Join the Strutta team and beat your "case of the Mondays" with a healthy dose of promotion inspiration! We hope these great contest ideas, design tips, case studies, etc. will inspire you throughout the week.
The Vancouver International Airport (YVR), in celebration of its 80th anniversary this year, ran a video contest, Live@YVR, with the objective of sharing "the unique, interesting and little-known stories of Canada’s second largest airport."
The contest premise, as thought up by Vancouver-based agency Edelman Digital, was to find someone who would live at YVR's Fairmont Hotel (and not leave Sea Island) for 80 days. This correspondent would share their experiences through social media and share video updates for the YVR Connections blog and social media channels. Here's a look inside the Live@YVR campaign from Edelman's team.
Strutta's platform was chosen to power the contest portion of the campaign. Judges picked five finalists from the lot of entrants and an open public vote determined the winner. The multi-talented Jaeger Mah was selected as the lucky live-in correspondant.
The creative campaign gained coverage at the launch of the contest, throughout its run, and at its close in traditional media outlets, including the National, BBC, MSNBC, Canada AM, CNN, AP, Huffington Post, and leading marketing blogs like Springwise.com. Just search the web for "Live@YVR" and you'll find the coverage.
Live@YVR also became its own media channel full of amazing original content. The official Live@YVR blog was used as a hub to document all of Jaeger's content and activity, while social media accounts were created and maintained to communicate and engage with the community: Facebook, Twitter, Vimeo, YouTube. As you can see, Jaeger gained tons of fans across the board!
Here is Jaeger's winning entry:
A big congratulations and thank you goes out to, Jaeger! Not only did he survive 80 days at YVR, the thrived and entertained us all throughout his journey.
