Strutta-powered video contests will now be accessible on your desktop as well as mobile devices like Android, iPad, iPod and iPhone. In addition, the video quality is chosen based on your connection speed, to ensure an optimal experience whether you’re at home, at a coffee shop or lounging on the beach.

This is possible thanks to HTML5, one of the hottest trends this year. It provides an open, standards-compliant way to deliver rich web applications on any device. For older browsers, we continue to use a Flash-based player.

Our video processing system has also been upgraded to deliver smooth HD video up to 720p resolution. Professionally shot videos will retain that crisp HD look, and even your iPhone and iPod clips will look better than ever.

YouTube playback has been extended to mobile devices as well. The site consistently ranks as the web’s top online video content property, playing host to over 140 million unique visitors monthly. Contestants who wish to enter their existing YouTube videos in a contest can still do so. The videos will be seamlessly embedded on the contest site, and play using the most appropriate player for every device. And thanks to our YouTube Sync feature, videos that are uploaded to the contest directly can be added to your own YouTube channel as well.
