1. Every Can Counts

The Creative ExtravaCANza

Drawings, photos and videos of creative uses of empty drink cans attracted over 12,000 unique visitors in this contest. Entries ranged from a "canjo" - a banjo made of spare guitar parts, a piece of wood and a pop can - to brooches were shared across Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Pinterest and helped to underscore Every Can Counts' mission to get people recycling cans at work and on the go. 2. Regent University

Giving In Action Photo Contest

This #struttacares participating organization has built a strong social media community with help from a social media strategy strong in Strutta-powered social promotions. This particular photo contest drew over 2,200 active participants. Visit Regent University's Facebook Page.

3. Meals on Wheels

American Volunteer Contest

Meals on Wheels, the oldest and largest organization in America representing those who provide meals to homebound seniors, has run the American Volunteer Contest on Strutta's platform for several years now to celebrate its volunteers who go above and beyond the call of duty. Last year's contest attracted over 15,000 unique visitors, 40% of whom were over the age of 55 (seniors are currently Facebook's fastest-growing demographic). Each MOWAA chapter across the country is encouraged to produce a video and support their most incredible volunteer.Visit the contest app on Facebook.

Prizes: 3 total; the winner was presented with MOWAA's annual Jody Tepedino Nicholo Award and his or her nominating MOW program received a check for $1,000. Second place was presented with a check for $750 and third place was presented with a check for $500.

4. WWF and Royal Ontario Museum

Canada's Oceans and You

This quick 2-day sweepstakes captured 231 leads who had the chance to subscribe to WWF's and ROM's mailing lists upon completing the sweepstakes entry form. Visit the contest site.

Prizes: 4 total; the grand prize winner won a behind-the-scenes tour of the museum with ROM scientists for 4 people while 3 runners up won ROM Family Memberships.

5. US Embassy Cairo

Untold Stories sponsored by Citizen Journalism Club and Microsoft

The US Embassy in Cairo keeps its audience engaged with regular promotions on Facebook. For this video contest, the US Embassy Cairo's Facebook fans with video production skills shared the story of an Egyptian hero making a difference in his or her local community through a one-minute video (mini-documentary). 37 touching videos attracted 36,883 views and 7,889 votes - and up for grabs was a trip of a lifetime. Prizes: 3 total; the three winning filmmakers and the three heroes their films are about all won an all-expenses paid trip to the United States to the Sundance Film Festival and the opportunity to meet with top American filmmakers, social media experts, and community organizers.

6. Thought for Food

TFF Challenge 2012 supported by Syngenta, iStrategyLabs and Sandbox

Thought for Food, a program developed to inspire new ideas and bold approaches to tackle the world's food issues, used Strutta's Contest App and Welcome Page to effectively promote and house the TFF Challenge 2012 on their Facebook Page. The top 3 teams each rallied over 500 clicks through shared links on social media networks including Facebook, Twitter, email, Pinterest and Google+. 7. Polar Bears International

My Planet My Part Gallery

Polar Bear International conducts research, education and action programs addressing the issues that are endagering polar bears. In this positive engagement campaign, the organization encouraged its supporters to submit and share their New Year's Pledges to inspire others. In the end, the 200 submitted pledges brought in over 15,000 page views. Visit the site

8. Meyer Memorial Trust

I am Oregon

Meyer Memorial Trust launched Oregeon Unlimited, an online platform and community that enables Oregonians to connect, with the I am Oregon campaign. Meyer Memorial Trust asked community members to nomiate people doing good in their circles, espeically those whose deeds may be going unnoticed or unsung. 1,234 nominations came in which drew over 35,000 visits to the contest site. The Ask: Text contest; nominate somebody by writing a short essay on their contributions to the community.
Prizes: 12 total; the nominees with the most votes in each of the 6 regions in Oregon got to represent Oregon at the 2013 National Conference on Volunteering adn Service in Washington, DC, exclusive I am Oregon gear and local recognition. Those who nomiated the 6 winning nominees go $500 visa gift cards.

9. Global Exchange

10th Annual Human Rights Awards

For the last 4 years, Global Exchange, an international human rights organization dedicated to promoting social, economic and environmental justice around the world, has selected their Human Rights Awards People’s Choice Honoree through Sturtta's platform. Global Exchange's community quickly adapted to the online process and has now come to anticipate the contest every year. Visit the contest site.
