Calling All Students in PR The New York Intern Project

Posted by Tina Hoang

We’re excited to see so many PR and marketing students buzzing around The New York Intern Project! Affect Strategies, an award-winning NYC-based agency that fuses the disciplines of PR, marketing and social media in their communications programs, and Strutta have partnered to bring this interactive contest to life. One worthy candidate will be awarded a paid internship with Affect Strategies over the summer in New York City.

Here’s the intro video:

Although the contest is open to entries until April 8, 2011, a good number of candidates have taken an eager approach and are getting a head start with votes on their entries - a smart move as only the top six vote-getters will move to the judging round, and will ultimately be eligible to win.

What’s the process? Entrants are to simply fill out the entry form and upload a photo or video. The six top-voted entrants will be narrowed down to three finalists by a panel of esteemed judges, and those three will be flown to New York City for in-person interviews with the Affect Strategies team. Finally, one deserving candidate will win the grand prize: a dream summer internship in NYC!

Who are the judges? Social media leader, author, and founder of Garage Technology Ventures and Alltop, Guy Kawasaki, and Mashable editor Erica Swallow. Affect’s founder and President Sandra Fathi and vice president and partner for the agency Leslie Campisi will also weigh in.

What’s included in the grand prize?

  • ,000 Stipend over 3 Months
  • Up to ,000 Housing Stipend over 3 Months
  • The full Affect Strategies intern experience this summer

Entrants are letting the world know on Twitter that they want to be the next New York intern with the hashtag #nyintern. They’re also taking advantage of the share tools on the contest site to share their entry on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and via email.

Of course, this contest was built on Strutta’s Social Promotions Platform, which means all front-end activity (submissions, voting, sharing) and back-end details (hosting, tracking, judging) are being swiftly handled on our system.

Good luck to all candidates of The New York Intern Project!
